The Archaeological Museum of Samos lies in the city center next to the town hall and occupies two buildings: the neoclassical “Paschaleion Archaeophylakeion” of 1912 and the newer museum operating since 1984. The old building exhibits finds from the Heraion, such as statues, vases, and dedications of bronze, ivory, and wood, while the new building houses the sculpture gallery with major works of the Archaic period. The most impressive exhibit is the colossal Kouros of Samos, 5.50 m tall, a masterpiece of 6th‑century BC Ionic art and a landmark of the museum. Visitors can also admire a wealth of archaeological treasures—vases, jewelry, sculptures, and coins—that highlight the wealth and significance of Samian culture in antiquity.
