Archaeological Museum of Agios Kirykos

Kapsalino Castle lies on Ikaria’s eastern side, on the mountain peaks of Atheras, at an elevation of about 800 meters. Access is only via a footpath, in fairly good condition, from Mavrato and continuing toward Karavostamo. Its position shows it was a strong fort and lookout, perhaps in the Paleolithic period, as it commanded all eastern Ikaria. Today only some remnants survive.
