Vathy

Vathy is built amphitheatrically on the hillside overlooking the city of Samos. It is one of the island’s oldest settlements and preserves its traditional character with old Venetian and neoclassical buildings, cobbled lanes, picturesque squares, and many churches. The village has been officially designated a settlement of outstanding natural beauty. A focal attraction is the two‑aisled church of “Ai Yiannakis” (1799) and the open‑air theater of the same name, which hosts cultural events in summer.
