Vatera Beach lies to the north of the island and is the longest in length (almost 10 km). Vatera is noted for its unparalleled natural beauty. It features azure waters and is organized only in one section with sunbeds, umbrellas, and beach bars. The coastal zone and seabed consist of a mix of sand and pebbles. There is also sporadic vegetation of tamarisk and sea daffodils along the beach. It is frequently awarded the Blue Flag for its very clean waters. The location is ideal for water sports, boat trips, sailing, and fishing. On the right side of the beach, about 3 km from its center, lies Cape Agios Fokas with its small namesake chapel. The area has strong tourist and holiday activity, with plenty of accommodation and dining options.
