Mytilinioi Primary School “Efthymias School”
“Efthymias School” in Mytilinioi is one of Samos’s most important educational monuments. Built in 1893 with a donation from Hieromonk Efthymios Kalymnios and the community, on the site of the village’s old school, it continued a long tradition of learning already underway since the early 19th century. The imposing building has housed, at various times, a theological school, a junior high school, a civic school and even an Italian military hospital during the Occupation, before becoming the Mytilinioi Primary School. Renovated in the 1950s with new donations and listed as a “Historic Preserved Monument” in 1996, the school continues to this day to operate as a center of education and memory, housing the seven‑class Mytilinioi Primary School and safeguarding the area’s history.
