Psara Municipal Library “Konstantis Kotrozos” – Youth Center
The Psara Municipal Library, which also functions as a Youth Center, is dedicated to the Psarian fighter Konstantis Kotrozos. It is housed in a building overlooking Mavri Rachi — the place of sacrifice of 120 defenders in 1824 — and Agios Nikolaos. The building was originally constructed to serve as a cold store for fish, but it never operated. After its renovation, it was inaugurated in June 2013, during the commemorations of the Holocaust of Psara, by Mayor K. Vratsanos. The library started with 3,000 books and audiovisual material, a donation by journalist D. Karageorgiou. Today it holds about 9,000 titles on subjects such as encyclopedias, history, literature, philosophy, arts, children’s and educational books. It also has periodicals sections, a reading room, a screening hall and areas with computers.
