The Ecclesiastical Byzantine Museum of Samos is in the city of Samos and is housed in a modern building inaugurated in 2006. Its exhibition space presents a rich collection of Byzantine and post‑Byzantine icons, woodcarvings, sacred vessels, manuscripts, and early printed books, revealing the island’s centuries‑old ecclesiastical tradition. Among the most important exhibits are the vestments of Patriarch Gregory V of Constantinople, the holy icon “The Crucifixion of Christ” by Theodoros Poulakos (16th c.), unique chalices of inestimable value, and manuscripts dating from the 11th century.
