Thermal Springs of Thermo and Chlio, Lefkada
West of Agios Kirykos, near the village of Glaredo, are the Thermo and Hlio Lefkadas springs, known for their warm seawater with a distinctive chemical composition (Na–Cl–K–Br–Fe, low radon). From the 1950s to the 1970s they operated with rudimentary facilities, but were gradually abandoned. Today, warm water bubbles up at the edge of the sea, where the municipality has configured a small natural hydrotherapy “pool” with stones. The sand around the spring has turned reddish and is traditionally used to relieve skin conditions. Access is free and relatively easy, though the site is unsigned and guidance from locals is needed.
