Kleftolimano
Kleftolimano Beach lies on Thymaina’s precipitous southwest side and was so named because it is hard to spot, having served as a pirate hideout. It is a small, dreamlike beach only a few meters long, with sand and pebbles, dominated by a large tamarisk, set amid the steep and forbidding shoreline. The setting is serene and the soundscape unique: the trilling of partridges and the bells of wild goats create a sense of harmony with primeval nature. The beach is sheltered from nearly all winds, offering safe anchorage for both local fishermen and tourist boats. For those without a boat, access is on foot via about an hour’s hike from Thymaina’s settlement, making Kleftolimano an exceptional destination for a quiet, secluded experience on the island’s south side.
