Ryakas Waterfall

On the south side of the Atheras range, at an elevation of about 900 meters, is the waterfall of the Ryakas stream, the largest and highest on Ikaria. At 60 meters high, together with little Lake Selini, it creates an impressive natural landscape. The waterfall forms in the Ryakas Gorge, above the bay of the same name, near Manganitis and Seychelles Beach. Access is via a path that is relatively rough, but the panoramic view of the landscape rewards the visitor. A notable feature is that during the summer months the waterfall dries up, to be replenished again in autumn.
