The Portianou Folklore Museum on Lemnos was founded in 1995 by the Association of Portianotes of Lemnos of Athens–Piraeus and Surroundings and is housed in a traditional two-storey village house known as the Vayiakos residence. The building, designated a listed monument, is a representative example of the island’s vernacular architecture. Its collection numbers more than 300 objects that depict daily life, customs, and traditions of the people of Lemnos, such as household utensils, tools, handicrafts, and traditional costumes. The display is enhanced with modern audiovisual media, offering visitors a comprehensive experience of the island’s cultural heritage.
