Folklore Museum of Plomari

The Plomari Folklore Museum is in the city center, near the main square, on the first floor of a traditional building above a historic café. It authentically presents the daily life of Plomari’s inhabitants over the past two centuries through exhibits such as household utensils, work tools, traditional costumes, coins, historical documents and books. The library of Irini Naupliotou, Lesvos’ first woman doctor, stands out. The museum is temporarily closed after the 2017 earthquake, yet it remains an important venue for preserving and promoting Plomari’s cultural identity, connecting the past with the living local tradition.
