Ikaria
Folklore Museum of Agios Kirykos
Kefala Castle, also known as Lefas’ Castle, dominates a rocky slope outside the village of Perdiki, offering impressive views over eastern Ikaria. Access is through the settlement of Skales, where stone ruins of houses from the 1940s survive, characteristic of the island’s traditional architecture. Along the same route, the chapel of St. Savvas stands out, often called the “Mistras of Ikaria” for its unique atmosphere. Built atop “Kefala,” the castle served as an important lookout and defensive point, and today stands as a silent witness of history, blending the natural landscape with the area’s traditional heritage.
