Chios Mastic Museum

The Chios Mastic Museum is located in the Mastichochoria, specifically on a hillside filled with mastic trees. It is an impressive building in perfect harmony with the environment, dedicated to Chios Mastiha. The exhibition presents traditional mastic cultivation and the history and culture of mastiha through a multimedia experience. Visitors can touch and smell mastiha and learn about the architecture, history, and social organization of the Mastichochoria. Another section presents the history of the Chios Gum Mastic Growers Association, the production history of mastiha, its uses, and its export worldwide. The final section lies outdoors, where visitors can walk through a mastic orchard. The Chios Mastic Museum belongs to the museum network of the Piraeus Bank Group Cultural Foundation and was created under the NSRF 2007–2013, funded by the Public Investment Program and the ERDF.
