Permanent Exhibition of the History of Children’s Toys & Books
The Permanent Exhibition of the History of Children’s Toys and Books in Myrina, Lemnos, began as the vision of Christos Boulotis in 1978, after his visit to the Nuremberg Toy Museum. Since then, with nostalgia for childhood, he began collecting toys and rare books, while many friends offered their own memories as donations. The collection grew continually, turning his homes into “toy libraries” full of memories and emotion. In 1992 part of the collection was displayed in Myrina, receiving a warm response. The dream took official form in 2011, when the collection was included in a municipal program and housed in two traditional buildings in the Yialos of Nea Madytos, with a view of the Venetian Castle. Thus, the children’s voices that once resounded meet today’s young visitors, while adults rediscover moments of their childhood.
