Samos offers unique opportunities for mountaineering and rock climbing, with routes for all experience levels. In the Karlovasi area, near Potami Beach, there are 3 climbing sectors with more than 30 routes that are mostly in the shade until early afternoon. The first and most popular sector by the sea and the road is ideal for beginners and still offers a pleasant route for more experienced climbers, with routes up to 12 meters and grades 5b–6b. The second sector, just 10 minutes’ walk along the trail, has over 20 routes from 8 to 55 meters high and grades 5b–7b+, with stunning views. For the very experienced there is a third sector in a gorge for overhang climbing, also reached by a short hike. After the climb, visitors can continue to nearby waterfalls for a refreshing swim and easy walking paths, completing a full day of adventure close to nature.
