Tomb of the 36 Exiles
The “Tomb of the 36 Exiles” is one of the most important landmarks on Agios Efstratios. It is the common ossuary of political prisoners in the winter of 1941 – 1942, during World War II, located near the chapel of Agios Minas. Three of them were killed by guards, while the rest died of starvation, confined in the old school, which then functioned as a hospital.
