Dipi–Larsos Wetland
The Dipi–Larsos wetland lies within the Ippeios Valley, which is formed between the Mytilene and Gera peninsulas. The marsh is formed next to the delta of the Evergetoulas River. It is a wetland system that mainly includes the mouth of the Evergetoulas stream and coastal brackish marshes. In the northern part of the wetland there are several springs of fresh/brackish water. The dominant vegetation type is emergent. The Dipi–Larsos marsh is covered, almost entirely, by very dense and impenetrable reedbeds, where hydrophytes and other marsh plants coexist. At its mouth, it hosts a large number of plants, reptiles, amphibians, birds, and insects, some notable for their rarity.
