4 Small Island Wetlands

According to Presidential Decree 19-6-2012, there are four small insular wetlands on Agios Efstratios, all coastal and totaling about 30 stremmas in area. They are the mouths of the streams a) Fitliou, b) Frangouli Rachi, c) Frangou and d) Mouroulia. The largest of these is the mouth of the Frangouli Rachi stream, with an area of 14 stremmas, followed by Fitliou with 11 stremmas. The smaller ones are the mouths at Ormos Frangou and Ormos Mouroulia, with 3 and 2 stremmas respectively. All four wetlands are within Natura 2000 network areas, underscoring their ecological importance.
