Museum of Samos Wine

Image

The Samos Union (EOS Samos) Wine Museum is housed in a splendid 19th‑century stone building that served before the founding of the “Unified Wine‑Making Cooperative” as a wine storehouse, and later as a cooperage. It stands at the junction for Malagari port. It hosts important exhibits on the historical, social, and cultural journey of Samian wine. Among the exhibits are vineyard specimens with native vines growing in ventilated cases; tools and vessels for viticulture, vinification, and aging; huge wooden wine tanks of the last century; collectible bottles; old photographs and production ledgers; cooperage tools; old winemaking machines; as well as records and documents of Samos’s long wine tradition. Of particular interest is the life‑size display of vine cultivation on dry‑stone terraces. Wine tastings are also held at the museum.
