Kalóchistos, also known as Rodotoichos or Kalos Toichos, is a characteristic example of Lesvian construction of the Archaic period. It stands near the entrance to the Gulf of Kalloni, in a commanding position that enhanced the area’s defensive and religious character. Its construction technique, with stones carefully joined without perfect alignment, provided both strength and aesthetic value. The wall functioned as a retaining work creating a terrace, likely connected with a monumental sanctuary, as ceramic finds and adjacent remains of a tower and walls indicate. Its strategic position in the agrarian hinterland of Agra and near the inlet of Apothika supports the hypothesis that the area was an important harbor with organized defenses. Today, a small church dedicated to the Panagia stands beside it, while future excavations are expected to shed fuller light on the monument’s significance.
