Plomari Ouzo Museum: “The World of Ouzo”

On the outskirts of Plomari, within a lush olive grove, lies the Ouzo Museum “The World of Ouzo” of the Isidoros Arvanitis Plomari Distillery. It is a space dedicated to the history and art of distillation, with over a century of tradition and creation. Through a modern, interactive presentation, visitors journey into the world of the emblematic Greek spirit: hear the story of ouzo, discover the herbs and fruits of Lesvos—with the unique Lisvori anise in the lead—and watch the traditional distillation process carried out in 18 small, handmade, copper alembics. The museum collection includes authentic distillation and bottling tools and machinery, such as distillate collection vessels, corkers, seals, alcoholmeters, scales and museum bottles. Visitors can also tour the bottling and packaging area, where traditional craft meets modern technology and automation. The experience ends with an ouzo tasting, revealing the secrets of proper serving and enjoyment—an authentic journey into the flavors, aromas and soul of Plomari.
