Varvayanni Ouzo Museum
In Plomari, next to the modern, proprietary distilleries of the Varvayiannis Distillery, stands the Varvayiannis Ouzo Museum—a tribute to the tradition and art of distillation that spans over 160 years. On display are the first still, built in 1858 in Constantinople, as well as the first tools used for bottling and applying the distinctive blue label. Through the exhibits and rich archival material, visitors learn the history of the Varvayiannis family and the secrets of traditional distillation. The experience concludes in the museum’s reception center, which includes a gift shop, tastings of the famed Varvayiannis ouzos, and audiovisual tours in Greek and English.
