Chios
Chios
The island’s agri-food production is not limited to the mastic trees. After all, its nickname “Fragrant” is no coincidence, since its citrus fruits are famous for their intense aroma and the many beautiful and fragrant blossoms that adorn their trees. As one of the largest Greek islands, Chios displays great variety in primary production, while its maritime tradition is also reflected in fishing and fish farming. Olives play an equally important role and yield distinctive products; there are also nuts, tomatoes, herbs, and flowers — over 1,000 orchid species grow on the island!
